The History of Holy Trinity Church
The site's history began in 1847 when Catholic priest J.M. Masquelet purchased property at the corner of Dauphine and St. Ferdinand Streets for $3,000. He commissioned architect Theodore Giraud to design a parish church to serve the local German immigrant community. The structure was dedicated as Holy Trinity Church in 1848.
