Avengers Campus: A Superhero Experience at Disney California Adventure

Located within Disney California Adventure, Avengers Campus is an immersive land where guests step into a world shared by the Earth's mightiest heroes. The campus is themed as a joint facility previously operated by a Stark Industries plant and the Strategic Scientific Reserve complex, serving as a training ground for the next generation of heroes.

The land occupies the space formerly held by A Bug's Land, which closed on September 5, 2018. It also integrates the Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! attraction, which had been operating in the adjacent Hollywood Land since 2017.

The Journey to Opening

The vision for the campus was first detailed at the 2017 D23 Expo, where Disney announced that Spider-Man and the Avengers would join the Guardians of the Galaxy in a dedicated superhero zone. While an initial opening date of July 18, 2020, was set, the launch was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and stay-at-home orders issued by California Governor Gavin Newsom.

After several adjustments, the campus officially opened its gates on June 4, 2021. Interestingly, due to a 1994 contract with Universal Parks & Resorts, Disney is prohibited from using the "Marvel" name in the branding of the land or its specific attractions.
