A Haunting Addition to Crackaxle Canyon
Werewolf Gorge is not just a ride but a themed experience. The attraction is set in an abandoned Texas quarry that has been repurposed into a tourist destination by an ambitious entrepreneur. However, the site carries a dark history; according to the ride's backstory, the mine is plagued by a werewolf curse, which led to reports of missing miners and mysterious sightings before the quarry was eventually abandoned.

Before boarding the coaster, guests will enter a highly themed queue that mirrors the roadside attraction narrative. The journey begins with a walk through the Museum of Cryptids and the Werewolf Museum, setting the stage for the supernatural encounter that follows.
The Ride Experience: Speed, Airtime, and Engineering
Manufactured by Vekoma, Werewolf Gorge is billed as the longest family launched roller coaster in the world upon its debut. The ride is designed to be accessible for families while providing significant thrills through a combination of speed and weightlessness.
The coaster utilizes four linear induction motor (LIM) launches—a system that uses electromagnetism to propel the train forward rapidly without the need for a traditional chain lift. These launches will accelerate riders to a top speed of 45 mph (72 km/h), including a unique multi-pass launch that occurs after a backward element of the ride.
One of the ride's most standout features is its focus on floater airtime, the sensation of lifting slightly out of the seat during a crest. With 32 distinct moments of airtime, it is advertised as having the most airtime of any family roller coaster globally. The experience lasts two minutes and thirty-six seconds, featuring a total elevation change of 85 feet (26 m) and drops reaching 40 feet (12 m).
The track winds through an environment filled with pine trees and towering quarry walls. As the ride reaches its conclusion, guests will experience a crumbling quarry scene featuring werewolf figures, simulating a narrow escape from the quarry's curse.

Development and History
The road to Werewolf Gorge began with a mysterious teaser campaign in early 2026. Six Flags Fiesta Texas utilized social media and a physical billboard in the Crackaxle Canyon Steampunk District to build anticipation. The billboard featured a phone number that, when called, revealed the attraction's backstory and its massive 130,000-square-foot footprint.
To make room for this expansion, the park began the demolition of the Big Bender and Whirlpool water slides in October 2025. The official reveal of Werewolf Gorge took place on May 30, 2026, timed specifically to coincide with the rising of a blue moon to align with the ride's werewolf theme.
