The Foundation and Early Years
The organization was established on February 13, 1976, at the headquarters of the Mexican Olympic Committee in Mexico City. It was founded through the collaborative efforts of five pioneering organizations: Badminton Canada, the Jamaica Badminton Association, Federacion Mexicana de Badminton, Comision Nacional de Badminton Peru, and the United States Badminton Association.
Victor Jaramillo of Mexico was nominated as the initial President. Under his leadership, the first Pan Am Championships took place in April 1977 in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. Jaramillo was officially confirmed as president during this event and served until 1981.

Early Competitive Growth
Between 1977 and 1981, the federation saw steady growth, with the Pan American Badminton Championships and Pan Am Junior Championships rotating through Canada, Peru, Mexico, and the USA. However, the organization faced a period of dormancy between 1981 and 1987, during which no official contests were held.
Revival and Modernization
The reactivation of the confederation was driven by the dedicated efforts of Helen Baxter of Canada starting in 1982, with further support from José Andrés Bellido, President of the Badminton Peru National Commission. These efforts culminated in 1987, when the organization once again became an active member of the International Badminton Federation (now the BWF).
The V Pan Am Badminton Championships, held in Lima, Peru, in November 1987, served as the catalyst for re-establishing the confederation. Shortly after, in February 1988, Pierre Blouin of Canada was elected president during the Thomas and Uber Cup preliminaries for the Pan Am Continent.
